5 Must-Bring Things For Your Next Gym Workout

Date: Aug 18, 2016    By: Genesis Fitness

Alongside your towel and your bottle of water, there are a few more essential items that will help you get more out of your workout.

1. Skipping Rope

Burning more than 10 calories a minute while strengthening your legs, butt, shoulders and arms, skipping reaps some major rewards. This is a great alternative when you’re struggling to find a cardio machine to work up a sweat.

2. Wireless Headphones

We’ve all experienced the inevitable earphone knot when we’re trying to workout. Make things easier for yourself and invest in a pair of wireless headphones. Operating via Bluetooth, these handy gym must-haves will save you from detangling situations. More importantly, you can leave your phone distractions in the locker as they work from a distance of up to 10 metres.

3. Massage Ball

The good pain you feel when using a massage ball means you’re helping your muscles to release tension, improve blood flow and aid in injury prevention. Chuck one in your gym bag and if you’re feeling a bit sore and sorry after a heavy weights session, spend 10-15 minutes after your workout massaging your trouble spots.

4. Timer/stopwatch

If you’re getting into HIIT training, circuits or any kind of interval training, you need to keep an eye on the time, including your rest time. Instead of checking your phone every two seconds, invest in an interval timer or stopwatch, so you can focus on your workout and not your phone.

5. Gloves

To prevent your hands from getting sore, calloused and impacting your workout, make sure you have a pair of weightlifting gloves at the ready. Providing added grip and relieving pressure on your hands, a good pair of weightlifting gloves will allow you to make your workout safer.
